The Trust’s project for developing green spaces within the Old Town has been christened the Patrick Geddes Gardening Club in honour of the innovative gardener, biologist and urban planer Patrick Geddes. With a groundswell of interest behind it, the club will meet regularly to take forward gardening and food growing initiatives, as well as promoting the fauna of the Old Town.

The Club agreed that it will be broad so anyone interested in gardening and growing things in the Old Town could join, though it will still enjoy support and supervision from the wider Trust. Lots of projects, some very small and some very grand are being discussed.

The EOTDT has also noted interest in being involved in the Cyrenian Farm Project at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital – a communal place for Old Townies to grow vegetables, fruit, herbs and flowers and to develop a safe place for fauna.
