We offer a range of activities, many of which take place at the Crannie, our community hub in Cranston Street. Our activities are free and open to residents of the Old Town (including Dumbiedykes).
Check the Activities Calendar to find our offerings and to confirm dates and times. In general, our activities do not require booking – simply turn up and take part! Contact us with any questions.
Become a member
Our mission is to provide community for the Old Town. We work for a vibrant, welcoming and sustainable Old Town for everyone who lives here. We welcome new members who support our mission.
We have three categories of membership:
The Ordinary Members elect the Board of Directors and Trustees and take other major decisions at our Annual General Meetings. Applications are always open. Membership in all categories is free.
Volunteer with us
As a local community organisation, support from volunteers is vital to our work. Our volunteers offer a wide range of different skills to support our mission of community for the Old Town.
From time to time, we advertise specific volunteer opportunities for particular aspects of our work. We are also interested in direct offers and suggestions for volunteering from members of our community. Contact us to learn more about the Trust and to contribute to our shared community.
Make a donation
We are a Scottish registered charity dedicated to the Old Town of Edinburgh. We provide important community services year round to residents of the Old Town. We take donations to support our multifaceted work and to further our continuing mission of community for the people of the Old Town.
We are currently accepting donations online through our crowdfunding campaign. Donations in all amounts are much appreciated. Contact us about large donations, bequests or partnerships.
Hire our venues
Our venues at the Crannie are available for hire by groups, charities, businesses and other organisations. They are rented by the hour, half day or full day.

Village Hall
• £40 per hour
• £150 per half day (4 hours)
• £280 per full day (8 hours)
Glass Room
• £30 per hour
• £110 per half day (4 hours)
• £200 per full day (8 hours)
Craft Room
• £20 per hour
• £70 per half day (4 hours)
• £120 per full day (8 hours)
Kitchen
• £20 per hour
Refreshments are available at an additional charge. We can also advise on catering options.
